The Fire Marshal currently oversees a Fire Prevention Staff of six inspectors and one administrative assistant, and is a member of the Fire Command Staff. Being active in the state and regional arenas for fire code adoption and development, the Fire Marshal is a local resource for all fire-code related issues.
Prevention Staff ensures applicability of current fire codes for City Master Planning Growth, Plan review-New Construction & Inspections, Permits & Licensing, Annual Mercantile Inspections, and Fire Investigations within the jurisdiction. Activities include appropriate emergency access, adequate water supply and fire hydrant systems, inner-connectivity between projects, and fire and life safety systems such as fire alarm and sprinkler systems are incorporated into all new commercial construction projects.
