Village Planning
Overview & Background
The planning process is underway for the city’s village component of the Surprise General Plan.
City staff is working alongside village residents in developing a long term vision for each of the city’s nine village. All villages will have a village committee, comprised of village residents, who will provide official recommendations to the city on village goals, policies and long range plans.
The nine village plans must not contain policies or recommendations that are contradictory to any element of the General Plan or to other community plans.
Currently the city has commenced planning for Village 1 & Village 3. The planning process for the other villages is expected to kick off within the next two years.

Get Involved
There are many different ways to get involved in issues, projects, and programs that impact the quality of life in your village and the overall city. One way is to be part of your village committee, whose responsibilities include:
- Represent neighborhood stakeholders in the process of developing a plan.
- Help identify neighborhood assets and concerns.
- Draft vision statement for public review.
- Assist in the development of goals, policies and strategies to address concerns and realize vision.
