Surprise hosts transaction privilege & use tax workshop

Surprise AZ (November 5, 2009) Business owners and managers looking for information on how to complete the transaction privilege and use tax form are invited to attend a city workshop on November 30.

This workshop will cover specific taxability issues within the use tax classification, including recent Model City Tax Code modifications. Deductions and exemptions will be thoroughly defined and discussed. Sample problems and worksheets are provided for a better understanding of the City of Surprise tax reporting and business licensing process.

Changes to the Surprise Municipal Code, Chapter 46, Model City Tax Code to include Article VI - Use Tax, go into effect January 1, 2010.  As a result of these changes, some businesses will be subject to use tax and could possibly incur an additional tax liability after the effective date. Use tax will be reported along with transaction privilege tax on your Arizona Department of Revenue Transaction Privilege, Use, and Severance Tax Return (TPT-1).
